Someday, I wanna be at all the great concerts, not trying to make due with grainy, far away footage from YouTube.

Adulthood thus so far...19 Unexpected Lessons...
18. Your social life will become a revolving door When you’re growing up, you hear so many little ditties and watch movies with the close-knit friends pledging to stay friends forever. They fail to mention that it’s simply not that easy. Or that you might not want to stay friends. Being young, you don’t forsee that both you and your friends have ambitions and motivations...

Adulthood thus so far...19 Unexpected Lessons...
19. Home is a state of mind. Home is not always the place where you grow up. I consider myself fairly rootless. I’ve gotten used to redefining what home means to me. You see, I have moved 7+ times since I was born. My heart does not ache for long to be back to the places I’ve lived. I probably lack the capacity to attach myself to one place. I only feel like a temporary resident....

I feel justified in not reading women's magazines
Besides obvious flaws like telling women to work within a budget then only showing women how to obtain a look with only the most expensive items rather than cost-effective alternatives, so many articles are just petty. So, I’m flipping through Essence’s website and there’s an article called “When Will Sisters Fully Embrace Beyonce?”. How is this at all newsworthy or...

First. White Christmas. Ever.
It just makes this lacklaster holiday that much more auspicious. I doesn’t suck, but I don’t think it’ll will be quite as nice until I have kids and create new traditions.

My incredibly stupid standoff with the library
The library has been my refuge these last dark years of my life. I’ve buried my head in many books and movies as a method of escape from the misery of reality and the soul-sucking feeling the Internet has been giving me as of late. Our relationship has been falling apart for sometime. It’s incredibly selfish but it sends me into a rage that the only shelves with any type of traffic are...

Oh the chances that I could be taking...
…with my hair. I am now entering into what will be my third year without a relaxer. There are so many styles and methods I want to try so much but I am more than a little scared. There’s this beautiful beautiful reddish-brown hue that I’m aching to try (not as a full dye job but maybe in the back or just the tips). I also want to get my hair pressed. I am justified a bit in my...

Why are women's winter clothes so thin?!
Shopping in the women’s section is a bitch during the fall and winter. I mean even the clothes that are supposed to be thick like sweaters, thermal shirts, and flannel are not even build to withstand a degree drop to under 50 degrees. You have layer up like 4 or 5 times to get any type of protection from the cold. I don’t understand what goes through the mind of clothing designers now....
